The management and employees at Yellowhead Helicopters believe in a culture where the health and safety of all workers is at the forefront of everything we do. We also believe that excellence in health and safety is important to our long-term success.
The foundation for our safety program is a SMS (Safety Management System) overseen by a dedicated Director of Safety Officer.
We are proud to be recognized by WorkSafeBC and the BC Forest Safety Council as “SAFE Certified”.
Certification was awarded after an independent auditor determined that our company had effectively implemented a health and safety management system. As a SAFE Company, we are committed to creating safe work sites and pursuing safety improvements for customers, vendors, and fellow employees.
We make extensive use of modern technology and employ industry best practices, enabling our team to provide clients with the safest and most efficient service possible. To facilitate AFF (Automatic Flight Following) all of our aircraft are equipped with TracPlus units that combine GPS satellite tracking with Iridium based text communication. This allows our dispatchers to see real-time information pertaining to the location of each aircraft via a secure web page, and to communicate with our pilots without having to rely on a line-of-sight FM radio network.
Our new pre-flight safety video is now available for viewing. Passengers undergo a safety briefing with the pilot before boarding a helicopter.
